At the heart of the PAPAGAIO Project is a commitment to strengthening local research capacity and empowering the next generation of maternal health leaders.

Throughout all phases of the project, we are building skills and expertise in low- and middle-income countries through:

• A comprehensive training programme to develop future research leaders and equip healthcare professionals with advanced knowledge in the management of pre-eclampsia.
• Education initiatives to promote best practices in maternal care and improve outcomes for women and babies in resource-limited settings.
• Developing Research Leaders of the Future
  • As part of our commitment to capacity building, three PhD students from low- and middle-income countries are conducting their doctoral research within the PAPAGAIO Programme:
    • Two students from Sierra Leone
    • One student from Zambia
  • These future leaders will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable improvements in maternal health long after the project ends.
