PAPAGAIO Country Lead

Leandro Gustavo De Oliveira (MD, PhD) is Associate Professor within the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the São Paulo State University (UNESP), Medical School, Botucatu, Brazil. His interest in preeclampsia involves pathophysiology, epidemiological issues and clinical approach, mainly in the context of low- and middle-income settings. He is an active member of the Global Pregnancy Co-Laboratory (CoLab) group and conducted a clinical Trial in collaboration with CoLab and Professor Lucy Chappell, the PREPARE - Prematurity Reduction by Preeclampsia Care. This study evaluated the potential role of angiogenic markers to guide obstetricians to defer delivery among women with suspected or confirmed pre-eclampsia. Dr. Leandro is the Joint Lead Applicant for the PAPAGAIO study and the PAPAGAIO Biobank Initiative. He will work with Professor Andrew Shennan and his team and will provide the necessary support to all the collaborators involved in the project. Dr. Leandro is a co-founder of the Brazilian Network for Studies of Hypertension in Pregnancy (RBEHG). This network enabled the creation of a robust team of professors and researchers connected to important Universities, tertiary hospitals and the Ministry of Health in Brazil, to develop Clinical Trials in partnership with international researchers. Maria Laura Costa do Nacimento

Maria Laura Costa is an Associate Professor within the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil. She has a broad research portfolio on different aspects of obstetrics care, including audit/feedback techniques to enhance guideline-based care, maternal morbidity and nearmiss and translational science of pre-eclampsia, Zika virus and COVID-19; with a post-doctoral training at Washington University, Saint Louis, Missouri (USA). Dr. Costa is part of the coordinating team for a WHO-HUB in Brazil and has had the opportunity to collaborate with the World Health Organization for various clinical studies and as a consultant for guideline development and scientific advisory committee. Currently, she is the coordinator of the postgraduate program in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University of Campinas, Brazil. Obstetrician and Full Professor at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School – University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP). He holds a Master’s and PhD in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. Mario Dias Correa Junior is a full professor of Obstetrics at Federal University of Minas Gerais. He graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, completed residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Santa Casa de Belo Horizonte (2000), master's degree in Obstetrics from UFMG (2002), and doctorate in Obstetrics from UFMG (2006). He is a Founding Member of the Brazilian Network for Studies on Hypertension in Pregnancy, working mainly in the field of Obstetrics, with an emphasis on high-risk pregnancy.

Alberto Moreno Zaconeta (MD, MSc, PhD) is Associate Professor at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics – University of Brasília (UnB). Obstetrician, graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC/SP) in 2006, with a Master’s degree and Doctorate in pre-eclampsia. He has dedicated himself for over 10 years to the field of reducing maternal mortality, especially related to hypertensive syndromes. Priscila Oliveira Barbosa

Nutritionist with a Master’s and PhD in Biochemistry. During her PhD, she conducted research in Nutritional Genomics at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen (UK), where she later held a Newton Fund International Fellowship awarded by the Academy of Medical Sciences, conducting postdoctoral training in Medical Sciences at the Centre for Obesity Research Epidemiology (CORE). She is currently a researcher at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP), in the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
