Professor Adeniji had his medical education at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Thereafter, underwent postgraduate medical training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, finishing with the Fellowships of both the Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCOG). He also holds Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. His clinical/research interests are in Maternal/Fetal Medicine and Labour Management

Dr Awol
Dr Awol Yemane Legesse is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Mekelle University and currently serves as a Fistula Surgeon, consultant OBGYN, and Clinical Director with the Freedom From Fistula Foundation in Sierra Leone. He has extensive experience in maternal health care and surgical management of obstetric fistula in low-resource settings.
Dr Legesse has published over 70 scientific articles, including in high-impact journals, and has contributed to the development of clinical protocols, as well as authoring books and book chapters. His research focuses on maternal health, with particular interest in preeclampsia and improving outcomes in resource-limited environments. He holds a Master’s degree in International Public Health from Liverpool John Moores University.

Global Health Researcher
Elfriede M. F. Kormawa is a global health researcher and humanitarian practitioner with experience in gender, protection, and health systems strengthening. She has worked across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East with the United Nations and international Non-Governmental Organisations to improve access to health and gender services in low-resource and crisis-affected settings.
She holds an MSc in Health and Society: Social Epidemiology from University College London and is pursuing a PhD at King’s College London under the NIHR PAPAGAIO Global Health Research Group. Her research focuses on how the management of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in low-income settings can be strengthened through stakeholder-driven research priority setting, real-world care pathway mapping, and economic evaluation of diagnostic innovation. I am conducting a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership on hypertensive disorders of pregnancy in Sierra Leone and Zambia to generate a ‘top ten’ list of unanswered questions and research priorities with the aim of informing research agendas in low-resource settings. In parallel, she is conducting a care pathway mapping in Sierra Leone to understand the systemic factors affecting the delivery of care for women with suspected or confirmed pre-eclampsia and is also undertaking a health economic analysis, including a budget impact analysis, to assess the financial implications of introducing point-of-care placental growth factor diagnostic technologies in Sierra Leone.

Ibrahim Boye Bah, employee of Welbodi Partnership Sierra Leone, working in the capacity as a data collector for the PAPAGAIO project. I have been exploring the acceptability and feasibility of PIGF for women with suspected preeclampsia in Sierra Leone, through interviews and FDGs. I am developing the skills and experience needed to become a research assistant in the near future.

Alpha Umaru Jalloh
Finance Manager
Alpha Umaru Jalloh is an experienced finance and administration professional with over 15 years of expertise spanning the NGO and banking sectors. He brings a proven track record in managing large-scale projects, overseeing budgets totalling more than $8 million across diverse donors and partners.
Before joining Welbodi Partnership, Alpha held senior finance and operations roles, gaining extensive experience in financial management, grant oversight, and organisational compliance. He has successfully managed multi-million-dollar budgets and provided strategic financial leadership across complex projects.
Alpha is a certified Humentum Trainer (UK) in NGO financial management and is highly skilled in proposal development, policy formulation, grant management, auditing, project closure, data protection, and compliance. He holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting and a BSc Honours in Applied Accounting.
At Welbodi Partnership, Alpha leads the finance and grant management functions, providing strategic financial oversight to ensure that resources are well-managed, compliant, and aligned with organisational goals.
Jenny Carlton-Carew
Country Director, Welbodi Partnership – Sierra Leone
Jenny Carlton-Carew leads Welbodi Partnership’s country operations in Sierra Leone, where she oversees the organisation’s strategic direction, programme delivery, and institutional partnerships to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health outcomes. Her leadership is grounded in over a decade of experience in public health and healthcare management, shaped by a personal commitment to strengthening the health system in her home country.
Born and raised in Sierra Leone, Jenny began her career in the UK after earning a BSc in Pharmacology and an MA in Management. She went on to hold key roles in the UK’s National Health Service, where she developed expertise in health strategy, service improvement, and system leadership. Her passion for global health equity led her to complete a Global MSc in Public Health at Imperial College London, and she is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
Since joining Welbodi Partnership, Jenny has led efforts to strengthen partnerships with the Ministry of Health, Ola During Children’s Hospital, and King’s College London, while expanding the organisation’s work in hospital quality improvement, health workforce training, operational research, and community-based care. Her focus is on delivering programmes that are locally owned, evidence-driven, and designed to create a lasting impact across Sierra Leone’s health system.
Her vision is to see Sierra Leone emerge as a leader in maternal and child health in West Africa, where every woman and child has access to the quality care they need to thrive.
Rosaline Kamara
Operations Manager, Welbodi Partnership
Rosaline Kamara, Operations Manager, Welbodi Partnership, is an experienced humanitarian professional with over 10 years of leadership in operations, human resources, administration, finance, and programme management. She has worked with leading NGOs in Sierra Leone, including Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she gained extensive expertise managing complex organisational systems.
Rosaline holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, a Bachelor’s degree, and an International Diploma in Office Management and Administration from Njala University (Sierra Leone) and Cambridge International College (UK). She has also completed several management and development programmes, enhancing her skills in leadership, organisational development, and operational excellence.
Since joining Welbodi Partnership in July 2020, Rosaline has led the Operations Department, overseeing key support functions that ensure the organisation runs smoothly and efficiently. Her work is integral to delivering Welbodi’s mission to strengthen Sierra Leone’s health system and improve maternal and child health outcomes.
Dr. Tahir Bockarie
Dr. Tahir Bockarie holds a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Warwick, with research focused on cardiovascular risk factors in Sierra Leone. From 2020–2021, he was a Queen Elizabeth Advanced Scholar, specializing in non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and human capital. His work under the Healthy Longevity initiative contributed to the development of an NCD mortality dashboard (2018–2020) for Sierra Leone and a World Bank publication on performance dashboards for decision-making in low- and middle-income countries.
Between 2020 and 2022, Tahir served as MedTech and Innovation Manager at NHS England, leading a portfolio of artificial intelligence projects in healthcare across primary care, ophthalmology, and cardiology. In 2023–2024, he was awarded a Global Fellowship by the UK’s Overseas Development Institute, through which he provided policy and digital technical assistance to the Ministry of Health in Sierra Leone. His work spanned digital health, disease control, reproductive health, and climate and health policy.
Tahir holds an honorary academic appointment at the University of Sierra Leone, supporting research strategy and teaching.
